Do you find that your perfume doesn’t last as long as you want, and you would like to extend its scent? If your answer is yes, in this post, we put together some tricks that you can put into practice to make the scent of your fragrance last longer and fix better on your skin.

1. Moisturize your skin before spraying the fragrance

One of the factors that influence the duration of the perfume is the level of hydration of the skin. Dry skin tends to absorb perfume more and lose the scent more quickly, while moisturized skin retains it better and releases it gradually. Therefore, it is important to apply a moisturizing cream all over your body after showering and before perfuming. Choose a cream with a neutral scent or one that combines well with your perfume, to avoid mixing scents that may be unpleasant.

2. Choose the right areas to apply the perfume

Not all parts of the body are the same when it comes to perfuming. Some areas are more conducive for the perfume to set and stay longer because they are the ones that generate more heat or have greater blood supply. These areas are: the wrists, neck, behind the ears, elbows, knees, and décolleté.

Apply the perfume on these points with a light touch or a small spray, without rubbing or massaging, to avoid altering the composition of the perfume.

3. Choose the right time to perfume

Another aspect that influences the duration of the perfume is the moment in which you apply it. The ideal is to do it right after the shower, when the pores are open and the skin is clean and moist.

This way, the perfume will penetrate the skin better and last longer. In addition, if you perfume yourself before getting dressed, you will avoid staining your clothes or altering the scent of the perfume with the fabrics.

4. Combine different products of the same fragrance

If you want to enhance the effect of your perfume and make it last longer, a good idea is to combine different products from the same range or olfactory line. For example, you can use shower gel, body cream, deodorant, and perfume from the same brand or collection.

This way, you will create a uniform and long-lasting scent layer on your skin, without mixing different scents that may detract from the intensity or harmony of your fragrance.

5. Spray perfume on clothes.

Another trick to make the scent of perfume last longer is to apply a little perfume on the clothes you are going to wear, especially on natural fibers such as cotton or wool, which retain the scent better.

6. Choose a perfume with a good hold

Finally, if you want your perfume to last longer, choose one that has a good hold and a high concentration of essences. Perfumes are classified according to their degree of intensity: eau de cologne, eau de toilette, eau de parfum, and parfum. The first two are the lightest and the ones that last the least, while the last two are the most intense and the ones that last the longest.

So, if you want a perfume that will stay with you all day, opt for an Eau de parfum or a parfum, which has a higher proportion of aromatic oils and a lower amount of alcohol.
